In addition to providing individually designed and modified Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), CLC utilizes a variety of other Best Practices to assist the child in achieving maximum potential. CLC staff are trained in use of Pragmatic Teaching, Pivotal Response Training, Floor Time Techniques, social skills scaffolding and the SCERTS model. A wide variety of special education strategies and communication strategies are used by CLC staff.
CLC has been predominantly successful in the areas of inclusion, socialization and the functional generalization of learned information. CLC has demonstated success in assisting children with Autism in transitioning from a strict drill format ABA program into a generalized functional program. We focus on teaching the child to appropriately apply all learned skills and information across all settings and people. Some of the areas of emphasis involved in successfully implementing this transition include:
- Enhanced language and communication skills
- Building more meaningful relationships with friends and family members
- Overall social skills development
- Independence and self regulation
- Parent and family training to assist in providing an ongoing supportive learning environment at home and in community
- Incidental learning
- The development and implementation of tools and adaptations to insure continued learning and independence
- Safety in the community
- Referencing people and the environmental for cues
- Pre vocational skills
